The School Trip
(To the Zoo)
“Miss Williams,” whined Rose. “Do I HAVE to go?”
“Yes! Your mum already paid for you! This is the third time you’ve asked me!” Miss Williams said impatiently.
Miss Williams was a stout lady with brown hair. She wears big glasses and she usually ties her hair into a bun. When she gets impatient, she puffs up like a red balloon, and she was like THAT right now.
“Now, go get your bag like all the other good children…PLEASE.” Huffed Miss Williams. Rose was embarrassed. Every child in the class was looking at her. She went to go get her bag.
“Now children,” said Miss Williams, “the bus has arrived. Please line up outside the classroom.” The children did what she said. On the bus, Rose sat next to her best friend, Rachel. Rachel had hazel brown hair and green eyes. There was a loud racket in the bus, but finally, the teacher on the bus told them to quieten down.
Once they had arrived at the Zoo, Rose started to talk. “Shhhhh!” Said Rachel. “The teacher already told us to be quiet.” First, they went to see the giraffes. Rose was hot. There was a nearby tree where they were standing. She took her jumper off and hung it on a branch.
After that, they went to see the cockatoos. Rose realised that Rachel wasn’t with them.
“Miss Williams?” Asked Rose. “Yes Rose.”
“Where’s Rach…?” suddenly Rachel came out of nowhere.
“Was I long?” Asked Rachel.
“No.” Replied Miss Williams.
“Where were you?” Asked Rose.
“Well,” said Rachel “I noticed that Rose’s jumper was hanging on the branch back by the giraffes. So I quickly went back to pick it up to bring it back to you.”
Miss Williams looked at Rose. “Next time PLEASE remember!”
“OK, Miss Williams” said Rose.
“And YOU,” she turned to Rachel. “Thank you for picking up Rose’s jumper”
The cockatoos were fun. Then they had lunch.
Next they played a game of cross the river. There were two poles. They decided for that to be the finish line and they started at a fence. The group was split into two. Rachel was on Rose’s team. They had planks, short and long, hoola hoops, and blocks. They had to keep on starting again.
On their first try, Rose fell and they had to restart.
“Ha!” Laughed a boy named Billy who was in the other team. “You’ll never win!”
Rose was upset after that. On the next try, Rachel fell and the same thing happened. But instead of an upset look on her face, she had a very determined look on her face.
In the end, Rose’s and Rachel’s team won. Finally they all got their bags and went back to school.
