Lever (alone) #SimpleMachines

AIM: To use a lever to catapult a table tennis ball into a bin.

1) We created a basic catapult design: One 1m ruler, some painter's tape, and one of Miss McGibbon's coffee cups (as she had 1 or 2 lying around #ahem)

2) We took it to the hall to experiment with. We used desks, g-boards and tables to act as a fulcrum, and then played around with positions and use of force to get the desired effect.

Some of us used too much force and over shot the mark quite considerably, and some of us used just the right amount and got really close to getting the ball in the bin.
Check out the video below for the highlights.

Our buddy class (Room 11), came to watch too and they were able to say why some catapults were working well and others weren't. Room 5 got to see Room 11's catapults in action on Thursday afternoon and they were awesome! Unfortunately, Miss McGibbon's phone battery died and could not take any pictures.

(There's no need to comment here about my phone battery Mrs O #ahem)
